Payment Orchestration

Payment Orchestration

Stop losing good customers to failed payments.

Stop losing good customers to failed payments.

Every month, subscribers who want to stay are lost because a payment didn’t go through. OpenByte sends every payment through the processor most likely to accept it, retries at the right moment, and uses everything you know about the customer to get it right.

More payments go through

Automatic card updates, smart routing and retries recover payments that would otherwise fail, so you keep subscribers who never meant to leave.

Lower fees

Send each payment through the processor that charges you least for it, in every country and currency.

No single point of failure

If one processor goes down or starts declining more payments, the next ones automatically go through another.

Some of your cancellations aren't cancellations at all

A card expires. A bank declines a renewal for no obvious reason. A processor has a bad afternoon. The subscriber didn't choose to leave, but they're gone anyway, and often they don't notice until they lose access.

With millions of subscribers, even a small drop in successful payments adds up to millions in lost revenue each year. Most payment setups can't do much about it, because they rely on one processor and know nothing about the customer behind the card.

OpenByte is the engine that powered our transition from startup to market leader. It touches every aspect of our operations, from customer acquisition to data analytics. Most importantly, it allowed us to evolve our payments stack, drastically reducing payment failures and maximising success rates across multiple processors. We simply couldn’t have scaled this efficiently without it.

Send every payment where it's most likely to succeed

Different processors accept different payments. Using just one leaves money on the table.

A processor that's great with UK debit cards might decline far more US credit cards. If every payment goes through one route, you're stuck with its weak spots.

OpenByte sends each payment to the processor most likely to accept it, based on card type, country, amount and what's worked before. More payments go through first time.

Win back failed payments with smarter retries

Retrying a declined card at the wrong time just gets it declined again.

Most systems retry on a fixed schedule, with the same processor and at the same time of day, whatever the reason for the decline. Too many failed attempts can even get you penalised by the card networks.

OpenByte looks at why each payment failed, then picks the best time and route for the next try. It also knows when to stop retrying and ask the customer to update their card instead.

Payment decisions made with the whole customer in view

Most payment systems only see a card and an amount. OpenByte sees the customer.

A loyal four-year subscriber and a brand-new sign-up from a risky affiliate look identical to a normal payment system. So good customers get declined by overcautious rules, and risky ones slip through.

OpenByte holds billing, payment history and where every subscriber came from, so each payment decision is based on the full picture. Good customers get through more often, and risky ones get extra checks.

Pay less for every payment

Processing fees are one of the biggest costs you can actually control.

Fees vary between processors depending on card type, country and currency. If everything goes through one route, you pay its price on every payment, plus extra currency conversion costs.

OpenByte sends each payment the cheapest way that won't hurt its chances of going through, so you pay less without losing revenue.

Never depend on a single processor again

When your only processor has a bad day, so does your revenue.

If a processor goes down, starts declining more than usual or changes its terms, brands tied to one provider have nowhere to go. Moving to another provider usually takes months.

OpenByte works with several processors at once. If one struggles, payments move to another automatically, and adding or switching a processor is a quick setup change instead of a big project.
